Last night, after getting home from Sevilla, I suddenly found myself very dizzy. Thinking it was because I hadn't eaten, or probably drunken, enough that day, I proceeded to eat dinner and drink lots of water, then climbed into bed.
...And never fell asleep, because my stomach began violently complaining. Finally, at 1 in the morning, I heard my host grandma get up, so I stumbled out of bed to talk to her. I told her my stomach hurt, so she made me some concoction that's supposed to help stomachs. I sat there and sipped it, and I thought it was helping...until I threw up all over her (thankfully linoleum) floor.
The rest of the night consisted of various unpleasant stomach-related events occuring, until about 9 a.m. I was utterly exhausted, but couldn't sleep at all. My roommate decided to call our program director, and the three of us decided that even though it was probably just some 24-hour bug, to take me to a doctor. That way I would have a medical excuse for missing class, and I could get some medicine to help me get better as quickly as possible.
Current prevailing theory is that, since I don't have a fever, this is not a stomach flu or virus. Instead, it's either food poisoning (though, I ate almost nothing in Sevilla yesterday that I think could produce poisoning. The small portion of fruit salad for breakfast? The little tortilla espanola I had for lunch?) ... or, it's sun poisoning. The latter makes a bit more sense. Though I didn't get sunburned at all, we were outside for 7 straight hours in 100 degree weather yesterday.
Anyway, I stumbled home after the doctor and took my drugs and successfully slept all afternoon. I woke up feeling MUCH better, though nowhere near "well."
The biggest concern is this: we leave for Morocco in the middle of the night Thursday morning. If I'm not feeling better within 36 hours, it would be an idiotic idea for me to go...and I really, really want to go.
Thus, I'm pleading with all of you to pray that I heal quickly and will still be able to go to Morocco!
You will get updated on Sevilla at a later point.

You are in my prayers carolyn!! That is just awful, I had stomach thing these past two days too, but not nearly as bad. I really hope you feel better, I kind of know how it feels at this very moment! Anyway--I have confidence you will be able to go. If not, maybe you're being protected from some potential bad accident or something. ??
P.S. Thank you so much for your sweet comment about my entry. You must read this book. I can't wait to tell you about my (life changing) weekend as soon as I feel better enough to write a very nice, detailed summary of everything! You are just going to melt! I love you!!
